 Our German language center was established in 1979. The excellent achievements of our trainers with the resulting quality of our International University Language Courses have contributed to our world wide reputation, which we are proud of. It incites us of course to extend and improve our offer continuously under the motto: Europe is growing - speak our languages.
Our Team consists of 30 language trainers for "German as a Foreign and Second Language". Our language course specialists:
- are exclusively native-speakers,
- have a solid didactic background,
- have international language course experience,
- have knowledge of up-to-date methods of language teaching on the basis of the targets set by the European Council and the Common European Framework of Language Learning and Teaching (Strasbourg 1996)
- have competent backgrounds and use the most progressive teaching methods,
- regularly take part in education and training seminars.

German in Austria...
... is the standard German language, as spoken in all German speaking language areas.
As in every other German speaking region, also the German language in Austria, has its own specific qualities:
- a smooth and melodic pronunciation
- in addition to the entire German vocabulary it has specific phrases (Austrianisms), especially in the field of food and beverages as well as politics and administration.
- texts by Austrian authors and the mass media reflect the cultural tradition of the Habsburg Monarchy and the language and culture of the modern republic.

 In a wonderful setting, Carinthia's beautiful countryside you will find numerous lakes, including the famous Wörthersee gently undulating hills with woods and meadows, mountains where you can go hiking, climbing and skiing. During the summer courses the organization of leisure activities (Monday - Saturday) is included in the course fee. However, bus tickets, entrance fees, as well as all additional costs which are linked to the leisure-time activities are not included in the course fee. Nevertheless, many activities planned are free of charge.
Participation in the leisure-time activities is, of course, voluntary. It should be emphasized, however, that day trips and theater visits, in particular, are considered an integral part of the course, as they will also be dealt with during the lessons beforehand. The day trips make up part of the cultural and geographical area of language acquisition.
Our leisure-time program coordinators will inform you about the exact program planned on the first day of the course (the information evening). The Saturday excursions will only take place if a certain minimum number of participants is reached, therefore it would be kind if you could register on time.
 Cultural Activities:
Theater workshops with Arthur; Literature: a visit to the Robert Musil Museum; Visits to theater performances depending on the program; Visits to exhibitions and galleries.
Excursions (always on Saturdays)
Carinthian lakes and mountains, Carinthian mountain forests; Salzburg - retracing Mozart's steps; Graz, Vienna, Venice, Ljubljana.
Sports Activities
Cycling excursions, Swimming, Football-international matches, Table-tennis tournaments, Pedal boat races on the lake (Wörthersee), Archery tournaments, Volleyball
Other
Cooking Olympics: All course participants present (cook) meals which are typical for their homecountry; City tour through the Old Town of Klagenfurt (1st course day); Water color courses with Martina; Quiz-evening; Parties during and at the end of the summer courses.
Upon request we book rooms (single-, double-, 3 or 4 bed rooms) in the youth hostel (during the spring and autumn courses) or in the students' residence Mozartheim (during summer courses).
If you choose a double, 3 or 4 bed room, the allocation of the rooms will be made according to sex and not nationality.
The rooms are at your disposal from Sunday before the beginning of the course (=day of arrival) until Saturday after the ending of the course (=day of departure).
 On the day of arrival you should not arrive later than 10 p.m. In case you arrive later, please send us an email.
For each course we only have a limited number of rooms at our disposal. Therefore please book your room on time.
Spring and Autumn Courses: Youth Hostel (3 minutes walk from the school)
Shower/WC, breakfast, kitchenette on each floor, towels (at a fee of EUR 0.75 each), bed linen and cooking utensils available. Meals (dinner and lunch) are available for EUR 6,00 each.
Summer Courses: Students' residence (10 minutes walk from the school)
Shower/WC, kitchenette, buffet breakfast , towels and bed linen are available. B.Y.O. cooking utensils.
