In Hamburg you can choose between two language schools:
Hamburg 1: The school was founded in 1952 and lies directly in the city centre, in a quiet pedestrian zone.
Hamburg 2: It´s a Summer language school. The courses run only in July, August and September. The school of German is in the heart of central Hamburg and is easy to reach from any part of the city.
The lessons in both schools in Hamburg are given in modern classrooms by qualified German teachers with extensive experience in teaching German as a foreign language.

The 'Free Hanseatic City of Hamburg' is one of the greenest and most beautiful cities in Germany. Its unique location on the Elbe and Alster rivers and its proximity to the North and the Baltic Sea coasts make Hamburg particularly attractive.
Its international docking services and facilities mean that Hamburg is a popular port of call for ships from all over the world. The historic free port area with its many canals and bridges is the world's largest bonded warehouse complex. Commodities such as coffee, tea, tobacco and other goods are stored here in huge neo-Gothic style brick buildings to await their buyers.
In the daytime, sophisticated shopping arcades, historic monuments, museums and international exhibitions attract many visitors. In the evening, the city offers opera, theatre and musicals or you can visit one of the numerous bars, pubs, discotheques or restaurants. The cafés situated around the Alster or on the banks of the Elbe are popular venues where one can meet people and enjoy the beautiful views.
On the first day of the course, in the afternoon, the school organizes a tour of the city on which you will see the beautiful port, the Alster, the famous Hamburg landmark, St. Michael's Church, better known as the 'Michel', and many other attractions.
Excursions: Excursions are organized at weekends to other cities in the area; in particular we recommend Lüneburg, Lübeck, Berlin and Copenhagen.
Lectures: The school organizes regular lectures in German. Topics include 'The Third Reich' and 'The Role of Germany in Europe'. These help you to gain a deeper understanding of the problems and conflicts within Germany today. Students have the opportunity to discuss the topics after the lectures.
German films: Classical or modern films are shown, for example films by R. W. Fassbinder, W. Wenders or D. Buck. Those who are interested can apply their knowledge of German by discussing the films afterwards.
Other facilities: During the course other events are organized for the evenings. The school will be pleased to pass on information about sporting activities such as swimming, keep-fit classes and other leisure activities.
Note: Cultural activities are free of charge but the student is expected to pay any extra expenses involved, such as travel and food. The culture and spare time activities programme does not form part of the contract.
1. Flats shared with Germans, a so-called 'WG' (Wohngemeinschaften) This is an excellent way of coming into personal contact with Germans and getting to know their way of life. The flats are completely furnished, including bed-linen and kitchen utensils. This method of accommodation ensures both independence and personal contact.
2. Accommodation with a host family You will be especially welcome in a German host family which we have specially selected for you. All host families live in pleasant residential areas of Hamburg in different parts of the city. The family homes can all be reached by public transport in-on average 15-20 minutes (max 45 minuten).
If you prefer accommodation with a host family, we recommend a reservation with full or half board. The daily meals are an important part of family life and communication, and are particularly useful opportunities for practicing your language skills. The families are carefully selected and the school is in constant contact with your host family during your stay.
